Intern with the Bio/Diversity Project
Get hands-on experience working in science education and outreach in local schools, while working directly with staff from the National Park Service and Arizona-Sonora Desert Museum.
About the Program
As an intern, you'll have the opportunity to work alongside educators in K-12 classrooms developing and delivering place-based and identity-based environmental science curricula. You'll also develop science communication skills and broaden your knowledge of environmental science-related issues while simultaneously providing encouragement and outreach to underrepresented groups of K-12 students.
Earn Course Credit
Interns can receive 3 units of credit through a number of UA departments:
- Agriculture and Biosystems Engineering
- Geography and Development
- Natural Resources and the Environment
- Soil, Water, and Environment Science
- Sustainable Built Environments
- Teaching, Learning, and Social Cultural Studies
- Gender and Women's Studies
- General Studies
- UA Honors College
Time Committment
The internship requires a commitment of 10 hours each week. You'll spend 5 hours each week in a local K-12 school and an additional 5 hours attending training and developing program materials at the UA.
