Global Medical Brigades

Global Brigades is the largest, student-led sustainable organization in the world. Here at the University of Arizona we have several distinctions of Global Brigades, medical being one of them. Medical brigade volunteers set up clinics in rural communities in either Honduras, Panamá and Nicaragua to provide health care where access is limited. Brigaders are given the opportunity to shadow licensed health care professionals while learning about cultures abroad. A typical Medical Brigade clinic consists of six stations: Intake, Triage, Consultation, Dental, Charla (health education), and Pharmacy. For every student who volunteers on a brigade, sixty patients can see a doctor who otherwise would not be able to. We currently have vacant spots on one of our brigades-Nicaragua in the beginning of summer.

If you are interested in joining Global Medical Brigades or traveling with us, email our secretary, Esmeralda Carrasco, at ua.gmb.secretary@gmail.com for questions or further instructions.
