ASEMS Program

We are still looking to fill spots in the Arizona’s Science, Engineering, and Mathematics Scholars (ASEMS) program. The ASEMS program is now funded by the federal TRiO Student Support Service grant for students in STEM, which focuses on students that will be first in their family to earn a degree. I think this could be a great opportunity for some of your students!

The TRiO ASEMS program offers services for all levels of undergraduates in STEM fields, including scholarship workshops, professional staff support/mentorship, and tutoring for key STEM courses. Other services vary according to student academic standing:

-          Freshmen

o   Peer mentorship

o   Success in STEM course/workshop

-          Sophomores

o   Research Readiness course/workshop

o   Peer mentorship

o   Faculty mentorship

o   Lab shadowing

-          Juniors to graduation: track related services/workshops

o   Placement in Med 493 A

o   Grad School Prep Workshops

o   Internship Opportunities

o   Career Prep

Please let your students in on this! For more information, check out ASEMS.arizona.edu, or you or students can contact

-          Corrie Sommerfeld, TRiO ASEMS Director

o   520.621.2243

-          Stephanie Celaya Serventi, TRiO ASEMS Coordinator

o   520.621.2660
