New electives from the College of Medicine and College of Pharmacy!
The Department of Medical Pharmacology (COM) and the Department of Pharmacoloyg and Toxicology (COP) have several new elective courses for undergraduates!

PHCL 422 Introduction to Toxicology for Undergraduates. Students will learn about toxicants, toxins, drugs, and other compounds that can harm the human body.

PHCL 441 Human Performance Pharmacology. Here we discuss all legal and illegal methods for increasing strength, endurance, cognition, and maximizing an optimal body composition.

PHCL 331 Controversies in Pharmacology. In this course, students learn the science behind pharmacological controversies and discuss thoughts and opinions on the law, ethical aspects, and social conundrums surrounding each issue.

PHCL 450 The Pharmacology of Sex. Students will learn about drugs that sustain or terminate a pregnancy, modulate sexual function, treat sexually transmitted disease, and those that are abused during sexual encounters.

PHCL 445/545 Drugs of Abuse. Students will learn about social, legal, political, and ethical considerations surrounding use/abuse of alcohol and psychotropic drugs in the US as well as pharmacological mechanisms, behavioral manifestations, and clinical utility in the view of societal expectations.   

PCOL 196 The Joy of Drugs. In this 1 hour seminar, students get a broad overview of drug classes and mechanisms of action. Perfect preparation for medical or pharmacy school.

PCOL 305 The Pharmacology of Cosmetics and Personal Care Products. Here we describe the chemical constituents, purpose, and mechanism of action of virtually everything we use daily on our bodies.
