Two Internship Experiences to offer students for 2017

The Pre-Health Professions Advising Center is pleased to announce that we have two internship experiences to offer students for 2017, the Med Mentor Internship and the Patient Experience Internship. 

These are different types of internships intended for students at different stages of preparing for application to health professional programs, so please review the descriptions below (and online via links provided) and apply for the ONE that will be best for you:

MED MENTOR INTERNSHIP (16 Students)

Designed for students who intend to apply to Medical School (MD/DO) for the 2018 Cycle, so is only available to Juniors, Seniors and post-baccalaureate students.  In its 10^th year, this internship involves a learning component, weekly class meetings and also shadowing opportunities with physicians. PATIENT EXPERIENCE (PX) INTERNSHIP (25 Students)

Open to students in any career path although because of the total hour commitment, particularly helpful for students planning to become PA’s.  This is a great opportunity to become familiar with the hospital environment and interacting primarily with patients, but also with the providers in the unit.  Requires a two semester commitment:  Spring, 2017 and Fall, 2017 (not summer) and a total of 270 patient contact hours.  IF you will graduate in May or August of 2017, please do not apply for this internship.  Please note that we will offer a summer version of this class (3 units, 135 hours) in summer, 2017.  Look here for more information about the PX internship: http://clas.arizona.edu/event/pre-health-profession/patient-experience-intern-program-2017-application
