Native SOAR is a 3-unit course designed as a service learning program that trains UA
undergraduates to mentor Indigenous high school students in Southern Arizona.
The course emphasizes current issues in K-12 education and post-secondary access. Native
SOAR mentors spend up to 2 hours per week coaching their high school students on various
aspects of the college experience, from discovering majors to applying to college.
Mentors who successfully complete the program may be awarded up to $350.00. This course can
also be used to fulfill general education requirements.
