Prozkoumat! Program

The Prozkoumat! research abroad program will be offered again in the summer of 2017.  Prefer that students have previous research experience but if they don’t but are emotionally mature and good students they should do well.  Alejandro Varela and Micah Secor are two who did the program last summer who didn’t have research experience and were just fine in the lab.

The deadline is January 6…with interviews on January 9 and 10. Any students interested and accepted to the program will need to enroll in a spring semester course that is currently scheduled for 3:00 - 4:50 pm on Wednesdays.  Given the fact that this is a course to prepare students for going abroad in this program, if the students accepted (no more than 10) have course conflicts at this time, we will move the course to a time when everyone can make it.

Dear Student,

Do you want to participate in a unique, unforgettable summer experience and hone your research skills while contributing to work that can change lives (including your own)?

 T
he Prozkoumat! program offers mentored research, cultural experiences, and the opportunity to make connections with Czech scientists that can last a life time.  Participating scientists study parasites that contribute to diseases such as malaria, schistosomiasis, and Lyme Disease that affect millions of people.

Participants will earn 6 hours of directed research credit.

The estimated program cost is $7,200 but there are scholarships both within and outside of the university for which you can apply to defray these costs.

Program dates are May 21 – July 29.  The application deadline is Friday, January 6 at 5 pm and applicants will be notified of their status by January 11, 2017.  Those accepted will take a two credit hour spring semester course as preparation for the experience.
