Job Shadow Program - Applications Open!

It’s that time again: We have new Job Shadow opportunities that might interest students! Are you interested in exploring a company, job role or industry? We’ve assembled 25+ opportunities for students to shadow a professional in the field in Tucson, around Arizona, and all over the country at the beginning of summer break, May 13-24, 2019.

Every job shadow opportunity is unique. A student might:

  • Sit in on meetings
  • Get a facility tour
  • Observe the daily work of a specific role in the company
  • Conduct an informational interview or
  • Get some hands-on experience.
In other words, you’ll get a snapshot of that role, that company, that industry. This information could help you decide if your skills match the career field of interest and how your skills are being developed in school and other jobs might translate to this job. New opportunities will be posted through April 5th, and applications close April 14th.

Here are some examples of summer shadow opportunities:

Honors College Program Self-Nomination: Applications Open

The 2019 Honors College Program Self-Nomination Application is now live. More information on the process, as well as the application, can be found here:

As many of you know, this process provides the opportunity for current UA students to apply for admission to the UA Honors College, provided they meet the following eligibility requirements:

·         A cumulative UA GPA of 3.5 or above
o   This will include Spring 2019 grades (which we will update in applications), so if someone is close, encourage them to consider applying!
·         At least one full time semester (12 units) complete at UA
o   This will include units earned in Spring 2019
·         At least three semesters remaining before graduation
o   After Spring 2019 (current semester excluded)

The Self-Nomination process is a competitive process and not all students that meet these conditions will be admitted. The application also now requires an Advisor Recommendation Form (attached). If you have any questions about the change in the process or the new form, please do not hesitate to reach out to me.

Take Charge Cats Hiring for Fall 2019

I am the Program Coordinator for the Take Charge Cats Program, housed in the Norton School of Family and Consumer Sciences.  We are a team of 11 undergraduate students that come from a variety of majors.  Our Take Charge Cats are trained in personal finance topics and presentation skills and go out and teach workshops to middle school, high school, and college students.

That being said, we are currently hiring student workers for Take Charge Cat Ambassador positions with a start date of Fall 2019

We are primarily seeking freshmen, sophomores, and juniors from all majors. This position is an amazing way for students to gain leadership and public speaking skills, as well as learn and teach about financial literacy in our community and on campus.  We are looking for students who have a passion about making an impact and who are outgoing, committed and self-motivated.

Our application closes on April 8th.  The students can apply on our website which will direct them to a Handshake application at  www.takechargecats.org

Have a Terrific Tuesday!

Thank you kindly,
