Elder Rehab Needs More interns and volunteers!



Dr Sharon Arkin is in need of additional interns for this Spring’s Elder Rehab program at the JCC.  See her note below.

The JCC Elder Rehab program needs five or six additional interns or volunteers to accommodate a last minute flood of applications resulting from a Arizona Daily Star news article on Mon. Jan. 15.

 Program requires student availability for supervising a memory-challenged senior for (2) 2-hour time periods per week  for a total of 20 sessions (40 hours), one hour per session of exercise, a second hour of cognitive activities, plus completing an  open book quiz about Alzheimer's Disease and an end-of-semester report from an outline based on weekly records kept on  participant's responses to the various activities.  Hours arranged according to student's availability, as worked out between  student and partner's caregiver. Student must have own transportation. 
   
Preference given to students available for a training session on Sun. Jan. 21 from 10 a..m. to 1 p.m.  Program begins the week of Jan. 21.  Spanish speakers needed.
