The Department
of Orthopaedic Surgery provides students with the opportunity to assist with
the collection of functional and patient reported-outcomes for the purposes of
monitoring and evaluating the quality of orthopaedic care provided by Banner
University Medical Center – Tucson/South. When not collecting data, the
intern will also have the opportunity to shadow surgeons in the clinic, learn
the skills necessary to conduct research, and contribute to a discussion of
evidence-based healthcare during a weekly meeting with Dr. Michael
Dohm. The expectation is that the intern will select a quality
initiative or research project for additional in-depth investigation with the
intention of producing a publication.
