My name is Kayleigh and I am the Account Manager at ScribeOne. At ScribeOne we hire and train medical scribes for providers at local emergency departments and various specialty clinics throughout Arizona. Our company is currently recruiting for scribes to work in emergency departments and specialty clinics in Tucson, Arizona.
I am reaching out to provide information about the unique opportunity for students to gain first-hand paid medical experience working with providers in a Level 1 Trauma Center and specialized clinics including, but not limited to, Neurology, Cardiology, Transplant, General Surgery, Oncology, and Pediatrics.
As a medical scribe, you will work one-on-one with providers assisting with the documentation for each patient to which the provider evaluates, allowing you to gain invaluable experience as well as expansive and relevant medical knowledge helping to better prepare you for a future career in healthcare. Furthermore, this experience is especially unique as it also allows individuals first-hand exposure to a variety of specialties in health-care in addition to emergency medicine in Arizona.
This position is not for everyone as both the fast-paced environment and complex materials requires those students who are highly motivated, eager for knowledge, and sharp intellect in order to succeed as a scribe. At ScribeOne we are looking for individuals who possess all these characteristics as well as desire to help others.
Multiple shifts are available lasting 8-10 hours in duration, working side-by-side with a single provider. Scribes are expected to commit to a minimum of 2 shifts per week at part-time or 4-5 shifts per week at full-time.
The training required for this position is extensive and requires multiple sessions of both paid classroom and clinical training. During this time, we teach topics ranging from medical terminology, emergency department and outpatient clinic flow, pathophysiology, medical/legal documentation, and EHR (electronic health record) use just to name a few.
The training is separated into two components consisting of 2 weeks of classroom and 2 weeks of clinical, requiring dedication both inside and outside of the classroom in order to be successful. Those who are successful in passing and completing both components then begin working independently.
This opportunity is both exciting and unique and one to which has shown to be both an excellent experience and resource for those preparing for a career in healthcare. I have attached a flyer to this e-mail containing more information about the position, locations, and how to apply.
For more information please feel free to visit our website www.scribeone.com. Should you have any questions regarding our program please do not hesitate to contact us directly at humanresources@scribeone.com.  We feel the students in your department would be an excellent fit for the position and if you could please share this opportunity with your students we would greatly appreciate it! I look forward to connecting with you!

Design Your Search

FYI

Hello!

We are reaching out to ask that you make students aware of Design Your Search. This course is for students who are in, or might soon be in, an active job or internship search (seniors in need of a credit or graduating in August, incoming juniors & seniors). Enrollment is low for both summer sections, and yet it’s a perfect time to be learning these valuable skills.

The course is open to students from all majors and was created to support students as they begin searching for and applying for professional opportunities. Ultimately, students will be able to present themselves professionally through their application documents (resume, cover letter, etc.) and in an interview as well as engage in networking, create effective online profiles, and strategically plan and organize their job search.

Here’s some information to pass on to interested students:

  • SBS 411: Design Your Search is perfect way to kick-start your search for a job or internship. You'll gain knowledge about timelines, resources, and expectations of a successful search and reflect on how your personal skills have value in your desired career path.
  • Details: 1 credit hour, online, 7-week summer session course (offered summer sessions I and II)
Thank you for your assistance reaching students who would benefit from the course!

GRE at-home testing available until (at least) 6/30

There's good news for students who want to take the GRE.

ETS  is temporarily offering a GRE General Test at home option. The test is identical in content, format and on-screen experience to the GRE General Test taken at a test center. It is taken on your own computer at home and is monitored by a human proctor online through ProctorU®At home administrators  are currently available around the clock every Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday through June 30, 2020.  https://www.ets.org/s/cv/gre/at-home/Please note the equipment requirements and limited dates.

To check the viability of this option, I queried Michael Flynn, an experienced GRE instructor, and below is his positive response:

"Great idea to share this GRE information with your colleagues and their students. The reports I've seen from folks who have taken the at-home GRE are overwhelmingly positive. Since the test will be taken on a computer in any case, most test-takers find doing so in their home is less stressful than at a testing center. And the invisible proctor (you can speak or text with her, but not see her), while a little unsettling in theory, actually works out well in reality. As you mentioned, the problem for some will be the equipment requirements, mainly the need for Windows and having to use an erasable whiteboard instead of scratch paper. Mac users will have to get creative in either finding a PC they can borrow or installing Windows on their Mac. In either case, they should be encouraged to practice with that system in advance, including taking ETS's computer practice tests on the machine they'll use on test day, and purchasing a small whiteboard or pad to use on those practice tests as well. I'm including information on this in the workshops I'm teaching, including the video linked below (a bit dry, but informative nonetheless), and welcome you to help spread the word to as many students as possible so no one is caught by surprise."

Please share widely with students.

Stay healthy and safe,
