Patient Experience Ambassador Program at St. Joseph's Hospital (Tucson)

Patient Experience Ambassador Program Overview:
St Joseph’s Emergency department is the front face of the hospital’s community. We serve over 50,000 patients at the Emergency Center each year.  Our mission is to embrace the whole person, in mind, body and spirit and to serve all people with dignity.  The Patient Experience Ambassador serves as a link between the patient and clinical staff as well as the families in clinical staff.  They are trained to assist patients in non-clinical tasks to ensure adequate and timely communication; to ensure comfort; and to alleviate fear and anxiety.   The ultimate goal is to ensure that Emergency Center patients leave with an understanding of their care and the follow ups required ensuring continued healing.
The Patient Experience Ambassador is a key member of the Emergency team.   The success of our patient’s journey is dependent on how successful we are with each interaction at each step of the Emergency Center journey.
We are looking for mature, dependable students who can commit to 4 hours a week for six (6) months.    The student cohort will be asked to attend an all day Saturday training led by a multi-disciplinary team.

If interested, please call or email Teresa Reyna, Director of Service Excellence and ask for an application.
