An upcoming volunteer opportunity with El Rio Health in Tucson

It’s that time again – “Viva Vecinos,” the 2019 El Rio Vecinos’ Block Party, is just around the corner!

I’m reaching out because you have either volunteered at past Block Parties, have expressed an interest in doing do, or have been recommended as a possible volunteer or a point of contact for volunteers. As usual, last year’s Block Party was a huge success – the food, drink, and crowd was better than ever and we capped that off by raising more money than ever before for El Rio’s Children’s Dental Program – proceeds that helped hundreds of often underprivileged kids in the Tucson community get dental services that they may not have otherwise gotten.

As with each passing year we, at the Vecinos, are looking to exceed last year’s marks and we need your help!

We are looking for volunteers who are willing to join the Vecinos team and several hundred guests at the event and help us make sure the night goes off without a hitch. To that end, we are asking for a few hours of your time on the evening of Saturday September 21st… depending on how much of a Wildcat fan you are it may be important to note that there is no University of Arizona football game that day – it is a bye week for them. In exchange for a few hours of your time you’ll be able to experience the sights and sounds of the event while helping to support a very worthy cause and will be provided dinner, parking, and a volunteer t-shirt.

What: The 6th Annual Block Party, brought to you by the El Rio Vecinos (more info on the event can be found here: http://www.elriovecinos.com/ a great video showcasing last year’s Block Party can be seen here: https://youtu.be/n0_ZRESxkjE).
When: Saturday September 21st, 2019, from late afternoon/early evening until approximately midnight (the hours you would be needed are somewhat flexible and we’re willing to accommodate your schedule)
Where: Jacome Plaza in downtown Tucson (101 North Stone Avenue, right outside the main library). First year at this new larger venue!
Why: To have a great time while helping to raise money for a great cause – the El Rio Children’s Dental Program. The first five Block Parties have raised well over $300,000 for the Children’s Dental Program and we are looking to build on that as best we can!

If you are able to help out please send an email to volunteer coordinator Mark Hotchkiss at MarkAHotchkiss@gmail.com with your name and T-shirt size! If you have any questions please feel free to reach out to him!

It seems like it is going to be a lot of fun and for a great cause too!!

Thanks again,

Brody
