Vive Peru Internship Opportunity (spring and summer)

Vive Peru is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status dedicated to fostering understanding of Latin American and Peruvian culture and improving the quality of life for Peruvian communities.  Volunteer program fees are tax-deductible.  

We are in need of volunteer interns experienced in the areas of

·  Clinical Medicine

·  Public Health

·  Teaching English

·  Social Work

·  Engineering

to support our partner organizations and adopted communities in Northern Peru!  Work side-by-side with doctors in local clinics and hospitals, volunteer with underprivileged communities, share your love for music or languages with the children of Peru. In your free time, explore one of the most ecologically diverse and historically rich countries in the world.

Applications are NOW OPEN for our Spring Break and Summer Break programs. Dates for Spring Break are March 6- March 12 and March 13-19. The early application deadline for Summer Sessions is February 1 and the regular deadline is March 1.

I'm writing to tell you about a great spring and summer internship opportunity  for Physiology students at the University of Arizona!

Vive Peru is a nonprofit organization with 501(c)(3) status dedicated to fostering understanding of Latin American and Peruvian culture and providing much-needed aid to Peruvian communities. We work to promote cultural understanding and implement innovative and self-sustainable programs in the areas of health, education, music, social work and engineering.

Interns work directly with Peruvian staff and gain valuable professional experience as well as give back to communities in need. Interns live with host families for the duration of the program and work both individually and in teams to aid the communities and develop both professionally and personally.  

Over the past five years, in addition to working extensively with students from Arizona State University and the University of Arizona, we have worked students from a variety of universities including Brown University, the George Washington University, Stanford University, Northwestern University, the University of Michigan and the University of Notre Dame.  We currently have a partnership with the University of Notre Dame which sends students on our summer program every year through the Kellogg Institute of International Studies.  You can see the link to our program at  http://kellogg.nd.edu/students/internship/latinamerica.shtml, under "VivePeru".

Through these volunteer internships, students gain international and professional experience while the hosting organization is able to support development in the region. In the past 5 years, 500 university students from across the country have joined us to donate 55,100 volunteer hours and over $40,100 in donated materials and outreach programs to communities in need in Peru. At local medical campaigns on the coast and in the Andes, we have attended to 4,275 patients with medical consultations and medications.
