2017-18 PSIO Undergraduate Scholarship Announcement

Dear Students,

Attached is information regarding a scholarship available for undergraduate physiology and pre-physiology students who meet the eligibility requirements.

Anne E. (Betty) Atwater Scholarship

for Undergraduate Education in the Department of Physiology

Source:

A gift from Professor Emerita Anne E. (Betty) Atwater, a faculty member at the University of Arizona for 34 years and Director of the Physiology Undergraduate Program before her retirement in 2003.

Award Amount:  $1,000  (non-renewable)

Eligibility:

•         Must be a U.S. Citizen or Permanent Resident
•         Must be an undergraduate student who will enroll full-time at the University of Arizona as a physiology (or pre-physiology) major for the 2017-18 academic year.
•         Must have completed a two-semester “Anatomy and Physiology” course sequence (e.g., PSIO 201 and 202 or equivalent) with grades of C or higher, as required for admission to the physiology major
•         Must have a cumulative GPA of 3.5 or higher
•         Must have completed the Free Application for Federal Aid (FAFSA)

Note:  Merit is the primary consideration for this scholarship with financial need as secondary

Application Deadline:  June 1, 2017 

Application Submission:

•         Log in to Scholarship Universe, create your profile or log in if you have already created your profile.  Under the “Scholarship” tab, click on “UA Scholarships” and search (by name) for the “Atwater Scholarship”    https://scholarshipuniverse.arizona.edu/suha
•         Complete the online scholarship application form
•         Attach your most recent unofficial transcript that includes grades for “Anatomy and Physiology” (PSIO 201 and 202, or equivalent)
•         Make sure your completed application form and your transcript are uploaded to the Scholarship Universe

Selection Process:

Selection will be made by the Department of Physiology Scholarship Committee and approved by the Department Head.  The scholarship winner (and non-winners) will be notified in late June or early July.
