I am a representative of Arizona Global Health
Project (AZGHP) reaching out to see if you would be willing to share our club
to your students to offer them some experiential learning beyond the classroom.
AZGHP is centered around educating and informing our members on the issues of
global health that cause disparities around the world. We attempt to expose our
members to the realities of healthcare that exist at varying socioeconomic
levels.
As
a healthcare based club in a collegiate setting, we also attempt to connect our
members with resources that will help them to ultimately be successful in
whatever healthcare profession they choose to pursue.
Bi-annually, we go to Mexico where we set up a
free clinic for the underserved community. Throughout the year, we are offering
small sessions where we teach members basics of running the clinic: taking
vital signs, common medications, and necessary Spanish in order to have a
better bedside manner and so on.
We also provide small volunteering
opportunities throughout the semester at places such as Ronald McDonald House,
the Z mansion, the community food bank and more. During our meetings, we will
also bring in guest speakers who are a part of the medical field.
For any additional information feel free to
contact us at arizonazghp@gmail.com
Thank you
Next meeting is on February 18th from 6:00 to 7:00 pm in Saguaro Hall 114. We meet every other Tuesday.
