Associates of Southern Arizona is looking for students to work part time as
medical scribes. The preferred candidate is:
•
A “pre-med” student with an eye to MCAT testing and Medical School application
•
A student in their “gap year” having taken the MCAT and applying to, or having
applied to Medical Schools and waiting for interviews/acceptance
•
A student desiring immersion in a busy medical practice environment with daily
opportunity to participate in patient care and the learning acquired
•
A student with a schedule that will allow at least 1 full day (8 hours) per week
and several ½ days (4 hours) ability to scribe with physicians in our offices
(16-20 hours minimum per week). UASA is open Monday-Friday, 8am-5pm.
This
is a great opportunity for students interested in entering the medical field to
see how a medical practice operates and apply that knowledge to future roles.
Responsibilities
include:
To
act as an assistant to the physician by inputting patient data in the
electronic medical record and gathering patient information.
1.
Accompany physician into the patient examination room in order to transcribe a
history and physical exam, and document accurately the physician’s encounter
with the patient and others present.
2.
List all proper diagnoses and symptoms as well as follow up instructions and
prescriptions as dictated by the physician.
3.
Document patient orders including laboratory tests, radiology tests,
medications, etc.
4.
Document any procedures performed by the physician.
5.
Verify accuracy of patient information in the file.
This
is a part time position with up to 30 hours per week available. We are ready to
being training immediately. Availability to work in winter and summer breaks is
required.
