Private
In-Home Personal Care Attendant/Assistant Wanted
Temporary
now. (July 28 to August 18)
Sat/Sun/Mon
mornings for 1 1/2 to 2 hours
Could become
long-term.
GREAT EXPERIENCE
for students interested in any health profession and such work experience can
be an asset on applications to professional programs.
Some experience is good but not necessary. I am
willing to train enthusiastic applicants new to caregiving who are looking for
experience. Must be reliable and have transportation.
Temporary help
needed on Sat., Sun. & Mon. mornings, from 7/28 to 8/18, assisting a male
quadriplegic (spinal cord injury) in getting out of bed. Just a
short-term supplement to your normal income at this time while my regular
caregiver is away. Other days could open in the near future.
Total time each
morning is generally 1.5 hrs once the routine is learned. Usually takes 2
hrs as we're just getting started and getting to know how each other
works. I'd like to find someone who can start between 7 and 9am weekends and between 6 and 8am on Mondays.
About
me: I'm near 50 yrs old, been married 25+ yrs, and have had my
disability since I was a teenager. I'm pretty easy going, college
educated, and like to talk & joke around. I tend to get along with
almost anybody. Most of my caregivers have stayed with me for several
years (generally 3 up to 10 yrs!). I'm in the downtown Tucson area, 10
minutes from the UA area. The location has worked well for students and for
those stopping before another job or after a night shift.)
We don't
smoke. We do have 2 dogs who are very friendly once they know somebody.
Primary needs
are:
* bathing (in
bed),
* dressing,
*
disconnecting/reconnecting catheter (*NOT* changing a catheter itself)
* full-assist
standing pivot transfer from bed to a wheelchair,
* adjusting
clothes and repositioning person in wheelchair for comfort & safety,
* some very basic
breakfast preparation
