Blastoff! 2018 Is a week-long summer science camp for middle
school students around the Tucson area designed to give students from
lower-income and under-served communities an opportunity to gain exposure
to STEM.
This camp is completely funded by the University of Arizona
Biochemistry club and is run by undergraduates at the university.
Each day of
the camp, students will partake in science activities that pertain to a subject
in STEM alongside their fellow peers and camp counselors who will guide them
through each activity. For example, last year, one of the activities the
students were able to participate in was a tour of the Flandrau
Science Center & Planetarium. This year, for Blastoff! 2018, we wish
to continue providing opportunities for middle school students to get an early exposure
to science.
If you have any questions, the best way to contact us is
through our e-mail at uabiochemistryclub@gmail.com.
Without the help of science
teachers and the cooperation of their respective schools, we could not have
hosted a successful science camp and valuable outreach opportunity for our
community.
Thank you very much for your time and assistance.
